Our business started off from a simple phrase “Coffee isn’t just a beverage, it’s a cultural connector with social significance.” The interior design concept “Glassteria” lies in the combination of glass house and osteria, which delivers the feeling of a cozy home sweet home. The Megabangna outpost is furnished with comfortable couches, natural wood floors, dark mosaic tiles, a gold metal bar counter, and floor-to-ceiling glass windows.

In November 2012, The Coffee Academïcs opened its doors on 38 Yiu Wa Street, Causeway Bay, with only one goal in mind – to redefine the coffee house experience in Hong Kong. Founded by global entrepreneur, Jennifer W.F. Liu, who believed that the Hong Kong consumer market was ready for a specialty coffee experience that can be offered only by The Coffee Academïcs, an independent group of coffee houses.

Since its inauguration, The Coffee Academïcs has been setting the standards in coffee quality. Taking Hong Kong's coffee culture to new heights and offering a unique sensory playground for coffee aficionados in Singapore and now Shanghai, our guests enjoy the latest innovations and technologies that enhance their coffee experience.

From sourcing globally for the best quality coffee beans to roasting onsite to finesse the inherent character of coffee and meticulously cupping to ensure quality, every molten pearl of coffee speaks of our interpretation of the perfect brew.

The Coffee Academïcs has continuously garnered the adoration of coffee lovers and experts alike, winning numerous accolades and awards throughout its opening. The Coffee Academïcs Hong Kong was ranked among the '25 Coffee Shops Around The World You Have to See Before You Die' by BuzzFeed in 2014, and 'The World's Best Coffee Shops' by The Telegraph in 2016. The Coffee Academïcs Singapore was also featured in the 2017 Michelin Guide for specialty coffee. Moreover, the brand was ranked the first in specialty coffee by Frost and Sullivan Report in 2017.

Joining Velaa Sindhorn Village Langsuan, Gaysorn Village, Centralworld, and Regent’s International School Bangkok, the brand’s new outpost at Megabangna brings outstanding specialty coffees to locals and shoppers, all of which are sourced from reputable coffee growers throughout the world.

The interior design represents minimalism where the gold and black colors are prominent. The food menu highlights Hong Kong-inspired dishes as well as a myriad of western menus, croissants, pastries, baked goods made in-house, and grab-and-go sandwiches.

The 220 square-meter store is capable of seating approximately 80 guests. A chef’s table centers the room, encouraging interactions between customers and baristas.

The Coffee Academics Thailand is owned by IMPACT Exhibition Management Co. Ltd under the management of Paul Kanjanapas, chief executive officer, who operates more than 28 restaurants citywide and has a strong desire in expending his F&B business empire.

The brand sources only the top 5% of specialty Arabica coffee from reputable independent coffee roasters in Peru, Panama, Kenya, Brazil, Columbia, Indonesia, and Yamen. These are grown in special and ideal climates and are distinctive because of their full cup taste and little to no defects. The unique flavors and tastes are a result of the special characteristics and composition of the soils in which they are produced.

Sustainability plays an integral role in upholding the company’s commitment. At The Coffee Academics, we support local food producers and purchase locally grown food and produce from Green Garden, a renowned organic farm in Chiang Mai. We buy meat from Sloane’s who is known for high quality meat products from the best, ethically sourced, local ingredients.

Some of our baked goods are supplied from Conkey’s Bakery. We source our pure fruit juices from Me Juice and fruit jam from Viven.
