Published : 2018-07-10

CEBIT ASEAN Bangkok 2018

JETRO Bangkok (“JETRO”) and CEBIT ASEAN Bangkok 2018 (“CEBIT ASEAN”) signed the Letter of Intent, to foster the partnership and collaboration between the two parties. Japanese start-ups will be encouraged to expand their businesses to and in Thailand, under the ‘JETRO Innovation Program (“JIP”), at CEBIT ASEAN. CEBIT ASEAN will be held from 18 to 20 October 2018, at IMPACT Exhibition and Convention Center in Bangkok, Thailand.

The LOI signing is a significant step on the strategic alliance between JETRO and CEBIT ASEAN, strengthening the business alliances in Thailand between Thai and Japanese partners. This collaboration is in line with JETRO’s three prioritized areas including upgrading industrial competitiveness, activation of local economy and globalization of Thai companies.

“JETRO is committed to supporting digital industry development contributing to Sustainable Development Goals (SGDs). We expect to see this collaborative effort leading to new and innovative business partnerships between Thailand and Japan,” said Mr Hiroki Mitsumata, President, JETRO.

CEBIT ASEAN - The IT event for digital business in Thailand

CEBIT ASEAN is a geo-clone of the most successful and renowned trade show in the technology and digital industry, CEBIT, which is held in Hanover, Germany. CEBIT ASEAN features an exhibition and a conference program. Plans for the show also include international pavilions where exhibitors from Europe and Asia band together to showcase their products and innovations.

Strong support from MDES and MOST

The Ministry of Digital Economy and Society of Thailand (“MDES”), the Ministry of Science and Technology (“MOST”), IMPACT Exhibition Management Co., Ltd. (“IMPACT”) and Deutsche Messe, jointly present the first edition of CEBIT ASEAN. As the co- hosts, MDES and MOST identified CEBIT ASEAN as one of the key platform to drive the country towards the digital transformation policy or the ‘Thailand 4.0’ policy.

Dr. Pichet Durongkaveroj, MDES, Thailand, said “The ‘Thailand 4.0’ policy encourages the integration of digital and technology into the Thai economy and society; to create economic prosperity, social well-being, raising human values and environment protection. CEBIT ASEAN presents the opportunity to connect Thailand with ASEAN and ASEAN+6 technology and digital markets; expand the Thai startup ecosystem and develop Thailand into a global technology and digital talent pool.”

“We are very pleased to have the support of Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau, JETRO, MDES, as well as that of the region’s trade and professional organizations. The time is ripe for such a platform like CEBIT ASEAN, to bring ASEAN’s technology and digital industry to a new level. We look forward to welcoming 8,000 participants at CEBIT ASEAN this October,” added Mr Loy Joon How, General Manager, IMPACT.
