Nonthaburi Governor inspects “IMPACT Muang Thong Thani” before resuming its services in the mid of June

Published : 2020-06-08

After the Center for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) has agreed to implement the third phase of lockdown relaxation, the exhibition and convention centers are allowed to resume their businesses and services with the space use limited to no more than 20,000 square meters and stay open until 9 p.m. Recently, Mr. Suchin Chaichumsak, Nonthaburi Governor, Dr. Panas Sophonpong from Nonthaburi Provincial Health Office, local administrator, and Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) paid a visit to IMPACT Exhibition and Convention Center, Muang Thong Thani, to inspect its operations in preparation for the reopening in accordance with the guidelines of COVID-19 preventive measures.

Mr. Suchin Chaichumsak, Nonthaburi Governor, stated that the number of COVID-19 cases had constantly been decreasing. With the cooperation of every sector that strictly adheres to the preventive measures introduced by the government, Thailand is able to curb the spread of the disease. However, the government still needs to maintain some measures to control the disease and ensure public safety, which can be inconvenient for many businesses, especially the exhibition and convention centers where the number of participants is high. Therefore, it is necessary for them to make some changes to the venues to adapt to the new normal. At least, everyone understands that this is a matter of social responsibility and the precautions must be taken seriously.

The inspection at IMPACT Muang Thong Thani went well as the venue has satisfactorily been well-prepared for the reopening after being closed for 3 months. IMPACT is a model exhibition and convention center that follows the guidance on infection prevention and control according to the government policies. Before entering the venue, all visitors are required to wear facial masks, have their temperature checked, and practice social distancing. Hand sanitizers are placed throughout the facility. The number of visitors is limited to 1 person per 5 square meters. In other words, 4,000 people can be present at one time in the area of 20,000 square meters.

“As IMPACT has a large area of up to 140,000 square meters, social distancing is not an issue. Customer tracking process is also implemented via “Thai Chana” application. However, the chief of the provincial health office team noted that the registration of the application is recommended but not required by the CCSA, Ministry of Public Health, and Nonthaburi province, as far as quick service for the visitors is concerned. With everyone’s cooperation and effort to strictly follow the guidance, we should be able to pass through the COVID-19 crisis soon.”

Ms. Kunwadee Jintavorn, Executive Director of IMPACT Exhibition Management Co., Ltd. and IMPACT Muang Thong Thani, said that since the CCSA announced the second and third phases of easing restrictions in the country, many IMPACT’s customers have sent their confirmation to organize their events at IMPACT. Most of them are annual trade fairs which have been postponed until the third quarter of this year. A small meeting of public health offices with 30 participants will be held first in the mid of June. Then, at the end of June, there will be other events including weddings and examination administrations for government agencies. However, under the condition of the activity space restriction of no more than 20,000 square meters as well as the social distancing practicality, the decision is yet to be made. In the event that the government announces the fourth phase of restriction relaxation in the next 14 days, allowing the use of space of more than 20,000 square meters, the possibility of examination administrations will be more promising.

During the closure, IMPACT has prepared and managed its area and services according to the government’s guidelines for exhibition and convention centers and followed every health and safety rule during the easing of COVID-19 preventive measures to adapt to the new normal. The procedures planned for the reopening of businesses include COVID-19 screening, disease spread preventive measures, traffic management for visitors, policy implementation of business operators, sanitization and social distancing practice, control of crowd density,  PR campaigns, special area control, guidelines for visitors and participants, monitoring-tracking-evaluating processes, clear guidelines for organizing meetings and conferences, food service regulations, etc.

Please rest assure that the IMPACT staff have put their best effort to prepare for the reopening. All customers can expect safe and perfect services and are welcome to experience the new normal at IMPACT Muang Thong Thani under the concept of “IMPACT: Smartness on Top of Safety.
