(November 21, 2012) TFC announces its readiness to host the “World Cheerleading Championship 2013”, which will be the 1st and greatest cheerleading competition ever held in Thailand, today signs MOU with “IMPACT Arena Muang Thong Thani” for the competition. IMPACT has hosted many international sporting events in the past and is equipped with many facilities. It is ready to welcome the athletes and representatives from 40 nations.

Dr. Atit Urairat, President of Thailand Federation of Cheerleading (TFC) reveals “The decision by the International Federation of Cheerleading (IFC) to choose Thailand as the host for the World Cheerleading Championship 2013 or 7th Cheerleading World Championship 2013. The IFC is confident in Thailand’s potential in regards to the venue, services, facilities and transportation system. In addition, the government of Thailand, the Department of Physical Education, and the Ministry of Tourism and Sports also support cheerleading which is being considered to be included in the Olympic Games. The support from the Thai government, therefore, is another reason why the country is chosen as the host.”

IMPACT Arena, as a venue, is ready as it passes the standard for national sporting events. In the past, IMPACT has been chosen for many events such as the Asian Games, Tennis Thailand Open and World Championship Boxing. So far, there are over 40 countries accepting the invitation to the event such as China, Germany, Taipei, Ecuador, Singapore, Greece, Hong Kong, Poland, Russia, and Slovenia.

“Cheerleading teaches the youth to learn teamwork and to have a sporting spirit with the right skills, not just synchronized dancing for aesthetic purposes. TFC is pleased for Thailand’s opportunity to host the upcoming event in order to improve Thailand’s cheerleading to international standards. TFC hopes that the people of Thailand will act as a host and cheer on the athletes to promote the popularity of the sport to the same level as any other sport in Thailand.” Dr. Atit added.
