IMPACT and Grand Prix ready to welcome 1.9 million visitors flocking to the 34th Motor Show

Published : 2013-03-22

IMPACT and Grand Prix International Co., Ltd, the organizer of the 34th Bangkok International Motor Show, have announced that they are ready to handle traffic for over 1.9 million visitors expected to visit the event which will be held from March 27 to April 7, 2013. For easier accessibility to the venue, visitors will be provided with free shuttle bus services, with a total of 65 buses operating from Victory Monument and Future Park Rangsit. Additionally, IMPACT will coordinate with traffic control units, public buses and vans, and taxis to help ease traffic to the venue and ensure safety of visitors.

Mr. Paul Kanjanapas, Managing Director of IMPACT Exhibition Management Co., Ltd., which manages and operates IMPACT Exhibition and Convention Center, Muang Thong Thani, said: “Grand Prix International Co., Ltd. expects to welcome 1.9 million visitors flocking to the event from March 27 - April 7, 2013. We, as the venue owner, have carefully planned ahead to cope up with high visitor traffic during the event.”

“Since late last year thoroughfares connecting IMPACT with Chaengwattana and Tiwanon roads have been improved and widened from four to six lanes. Additionally, we have installed an intelligent lighting system that shows available parking spaces at Challenger Hall’s indoor parking area which can accommodate more than 2,000 vehicles. To make it easy to control vehicles going in and out, we provide indoor and outdoor parking areas that can accommodate more than 15,000 vehicles. We have also set up a traffic team to coordinate with traffic control units in Nonthaburi in order to report traffic conditions to Jor Sor 100, a popular traffic radio station. In addition, there will be 30 extra traffic policemen facilitate traffic within the event area.”

“Grand Prix International has also prepared free shuttle buses for visitors, with 25 buses available in front of Ratwithi Hospital near Victory Monument and another 25 buses in front of Big C Supermarket, Future Park Rangsit. All buses are equipped with air conditioning and 45 seats. The shuttle buses will be available for the 12-day event, from 9 a.m. to 10.30 p.m. and leave the pickup spots every 30 minutes. To facilitate transportation within the center, IMPACT will provide 12 shuttle buses both climate controlled and open air and three 20-seat microbuses for visitors interested in taking a test drive or driving to enjoy activities being held at the outdoor area by the Muang Thong Thani Lake,” Mr. Paul added.

In addition, IMPACT has a backup plan to cope up with excessive traffic congestion. Part of the plan includes cancellation of Muang Thong Thani’s Sunday market and promotion of public transportation to convince visitors that there are many alternative and convenient routes to IMPACT Exhibition and Convention Center. There are many ways to get to the venue, including IMPACT Link shuttle buses (IMPACT - Mo Chit BTS station), public vans from IMPACT to Victory Monument, The Mall Ngamwongwan, The Mall Ramkhamhaeng, Sanam Luang, Major Cineplex Rangsit, Silom and Ploenchit, public bus No. 166 (Muang Thong Thani – Victory Monument), minibuses to Chaengwattana and Tiwanon roads, Munag Thong Thani – Lad Lum Kaew minibuses and public vans to many provinces such as Nakhon Sawan, Phitsanulok, Nakhon Ratchasima, Prachinburi, Sakaew (Arunyaprated) and Kanchanaburi. Those transportation choices are available near Muang Thong Thani’s international outlets and Ruamjai Market.
