CEBIT ASEAN Thailand opens today

IMPACT Exhibition Management Co., Ltd. (“IMPACT”) and Deutsche Messe AG (“DMAG”), the organizers of CEBIT ASEAN Thailand (“CEBIT ASEAN”), opened the doors of the three-day trade exhibition today. CEBIT ASEAN is expected to attract 8,000 technology professionals and business leaders during 18 to 20 October 2018, at hall 7-8, IMPACT Exhibition and Convention Center, Thailand.

A geo-clone of the most successful and renowned trade show in the technology and digital industry, CEBIT, which is held in Hanover, Germany, CEBIT ASEAN is showcasing more than 200 exhibiting companies and brands from more than ten countries, including Bangladesh, China, India, Indonesia, Israel, Japan, Malaysia, Republic of Korea, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand and USA.

CEBIT ASEAN is proud to be supported by the Ministry of Science and Technology; Ministry of Digital Economy and Society; Electronic Transactions Development Agency (Public Organization); and National Innovation Agency (Public Organization).

Dr. Pichet Durongkaveroj, Minister, Digital Economy and Society presided over the opening ceremony. Other guests of honor included Dr. Pathom Sawanpanyalert, Deputy Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Science and Technology; and Mr. Chiruit Isarangkun na Ayuthaya, President, Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau.

Dr. Pichet Durongkaveroj, said, “The government strongly supports the development of the country into the digital age with the policy, Thailand 4.0. The Ministry is the main agency in driving the country to the digital era in five key areas, namely 1) Infrastructure operations, such as the expansion of the Internet covering all villages throughout the country under the project ‘Citizen Network’; 2) Developing people to access and utilize digital technology; 3) Developing key projects such as Smart City, Digital Park, and the establishment of the IoT Institute; 4) Cyber security; and 5) Moving towards a digital government. By hosting CEBIT ASEAN Thailand 2018, the Ministry hopes to make this event a source of digital technology and experts from both the public and private sectors. It is also a platform to exchange knowledge, discuss business, and preparation to enter the digital economy.” 

“The Ministry of Science and Technology have strategies to promote technology for economy, society and environment in four groups - foundations of the Thai economy, including farmers and OTOP (a local entrepreneurship stimulus program designed by Thailand's former); SMEs; major entrepreneurs and multinational corporations; and startups. The ministry is supporting CEBIT ASEAN, as we have recognized the importance of developing Thailand's technology and innovation to increase the efficiency of the country and aims to promote Thailand as a hub in the ASEAN region,” shared Dr. Pathom Sawanpanyalert, Deputy Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Science and Technology.
