Provincial Police Region 1 chooses IMPACT Muang Thong Thani to debut “Smart Safety Zone 4.0”

Paul Kanjanapas, chief executive officer of Bangkok Land Public Company Limited, the operator of IMPACT Exhibition Management Co., Ltd, has recently announced his enthusiasms to support community safety across Muang Thong Thani. Implemented by Provincial Police Region 1 “Smart Safety Zone 4.0” is designed to foster safer neighborhoods through the ongoing collaboration and cooperation between law enforcement agencies and the community.

Boasting upwards of 4,000 rais of land, Muang Thong Thani is surrounded by commercial and residential buildings with more than 200,000 residents, real estate for sale, condominiums and apartments, Nonthaburi Government Center, private firms, and schools and universities. Before the world turned upside down, IMPACT Exhibition Center hosted approximately 800 local and international events welcoming more than 10 million visitors from around the globe annually.

Police Major Wiwat Thongsuk from Pakkred Police Station elaborates on the purposes of the Smart Safety Zone 4.0 project that centers around the safety of residents and uses advanced technologies to meet residents’ most pressing needs. Moreover, the smart safety approach will sustain reductions in crime and keeps communities safe. Muang Thong Thani has met 3 criteria: 1) RISK, 2) LANDMARK, and 3) ECONOMIC by the Royal Thai Police and is hailed as the premier year-round leisure and exhibition destination where offers a plethora of attractions, shops, and restaurants for an unrivaled experience.  

Colonel Ponggak Prechakarn from Pakkred Police Station has already planned out 33 security checkpoints where the police will patrol the area regularly. The checkpoints are categorized into 4 zones: Zone A or “Red Zone” covering Ta Yai shrine, ibis Bangkok IMPACT, Cosmo Bazaar’s parking garage, and residential buildings; Zone B or “Yellow Zone” including nearby gas stations, temples, BeeHive Lifestyle Mall; Zone C or “Green Zone” from Bond Street areas to the street market and the lake; and Zone D or “Blue Zone” covering the space under the highway (Muang Thong Thaini Exit) and Sri Nagarindra Park Nonthaburi.

Colonel Ponggak Prechakarn also discusses identified areas prone to violence with IMPACT patrol staff to find the best solutions to tackle violent crime in the community. The use of technology in crime prevention has been brought into discussion along with urban planning that contributes to identify root causes, and setting up more public surveillance cameras in high crime spots.
