GM Message

April is the month of Songkran – the traditional Thai New Year Festival. Also know as the “Water Festival”, Songkran is a celebration that embraces goodwill, love, compassion and thankfulness, using water throwing as the means of expression.

Songkran is also a time for us to express to each another, the three major values in Thai way of life. These are value of family, value of society and value of religion. The current global economic downturn has indeed created many challenges for both individuals and businesses. This year is going to be testing times for many of us. However, I believe that these three major values in Thai way of life can provide us with spiritual comfort and motivation to face the tough challenges ahead.

A recent research studies conducted by the Center for Exhibition Industry Research (CEIR) reveal that in times of economic downturns, exhibitions are considered to be the most efficient marketing mediums that bring buyers and sellers together to generate commerce. Exhibitions are cost effective face-to-face selling medium for companies seeking to reach out effectively to key decision makers.

The month of Songkran will see the staging of back- to- back major international exhibitions at IMPACT. The Bangkok International Gift and Bangkok International Houseware Fair (BIG+BIH) will take place in end April, followed by Architect’ 09 and Thaifex-World of Food Asia.

We do look forward to welcome the thousands of exhibitors, delegates and visitors attending these exhibitions at IMPACT and to share and celebrate the traditions of Songkran with them.

It is going to be a wet month at IMPACT for sure – not so much due to the rain but our water throwing as we express our goodwill, love, compassion and thankfulness to all our visitors at IMPACT.

I will like to wish everyone a Happy Thai New Year!
