The opening ceremony of SML Expo

Prime Minister of Thailand Paetongtarn Shinawatra (5th from left) presides at the opening ceremony of SML Expo (Support Microfinance Local Economy for short) with the concept “Delivering opportunities to community, by community, for community, orchestrated by National Village and Urban Community Fund Office. The expo helps underline its initial purpose of building a community network where everyone in the community engages, shares ideas, and takes part in community budget plans, created in 2004 with approximately 79,610 community members across Thailand.

The expo, set for April 21, 2025 at Halls 11 – 12 of the IMPACT Exhibition and Convention Center, serves as a catalyst for raising awareness among village fund committees and their community members as well as engaging residents, local government officials, non profits, and other allies in efforts to educate the public about committee regulations and the roles and responsibilities of a village fund committee and foster community advocacy.
