IMPACT Muang Thong Thani Moves Toward Becoming a Smart City with Phase 2 of AI-Powered Traffic Management System

2025年10月07日

IMPACT Muang Thong Thani, one of Thailand’s largest integrated business districts, has embarked on the second phase of its Intelligent Traffic Management System (ITMS) initiative. This project, part of a broader vision to transform Muang Thong Thani into a smart city model, includes the installation of 100 AI-powered CCTV cameras aimed at enhancing safety and traffic efficiency in the area.

Following the successful deployment of 41 AI-integrated CCTV units across 18 key locations during Phase1-such as IMPACT Forum Junction, the IMPACT Roundabout, and the headquarters of Kasikorn Bank-Phase 2 will complete the network with 59 additional units.

According to Mr. Paul Kanjanapas, CEO of IMPACT Exhibition Management Co., Ltd., Muang Thong Thani serves as a comprehensive urban center comprising residential areas, office buildings, universities, schools, hotels, government agencies, restaurants, and IMPACT’s renowned exhibition and convention facilities. The area sees over 300,000 commuters daily, a number expected to grow steadily.

The smart city initiative integrates advanced technologies to improve urban living-from safety and environmental management to smarter housing solutions,” said Mr. Kanjanapas. “Our goal is to create a more livable, efficient, and prosperous community for everyone residing and working in Muang Thong Thani.”

Mr.Thanarat Khemphet, Senior City Management Manager at IMPACT Exhibition Management, added that the AI-enhanced CCTV system was already tested during THAIFEX – ANUGA ASIA 2025 in May. The results showed measurable improvements in traffic flow and management efficiency. The technology enables real-time detection of accidents and unusual incidents, provides instant alerts, and dynamically adjusts traffic signals based on current conditions.

In future phases, IMPACT plans to establish a centralized ITMS control and analytics center to process real-time traffic data. LED information signage will also be introduced to keep drivers informed about routes, available parking spaces, and other essential updates.

In addition to traffic upgrades, the development plan includes creating dedicated emergency vehicle lanes near Popular Walk and expanding existing environmental monitoring systems. These include dust and rainfall measurement projects that previously won recognition under IMPACT’s internal innovation initiative, Routine to Innovation (R2i).
